Terms.
Plain language, no legalese. Last updated 28 July 2026.
What this is
COMEDY ATLAS is a free, worldwide directory of English-language stand-up comedy — shows, comics, venues, and the promoters and bookers who run rooms. By using the site, creating an account, or making a donation, you're agreeing to these terms.
COMEDY ATLAS is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — NOT YET FORMED/CONFIRMED], registered at [REGISTERED BUSINESS ADDRESS — TO BE CONFIRMED]. Until that's filled in, treat this as a plain statement of how the product is run today, not a corporate legal document.
Accounts
- Fans sign in with a magic link (no password). You're responsible for keeping access to the email address you signed up with.
- Comics and bookers can claim or request a listing. Listings are built from public information (official venue sites, ticketing platforms, festival programmes) — claiming a listing lets you correct it, add detail, or ask for it to be taken down. Don't claim a listing that isn't yours to represent.
- You must give accurate information when you sign up or claim a page. We can suspend or remove an account used to submit false listings, harass another user, or abuse the contact-relay system.
- You're responsible for what you post (a bio, a show description, a message sent through the site). Don't post anything illegal, someone else's private contact information, or content you don't have the right to share.
Listings, tickets, and accuracy
- Every ticket link on the site goes straight to the organizer's own official page. COMEDY ATLAS never sells, resells, or marks up tickets, and never processes a ticket payment. No ticket-referral affiliate programme exists today — no commission is being earned on any ticket link.
- We work to verify what we publish (see the sourcing rules on the About page), but this is a small, independently-run project aggregating from public sources. We do not guarantee that any listing — a date, a time, a price, a venue address — is complete, current, or error-free. Always confirm details with the organizer before you travel to a show.
- We are not a party to any transaction between you and a venue, organizer, or ticket platform, and we're not responsible for a show being cancelled, moved, or misrepresented by its organizer.
Donations
- The "Support the Atlas" donation is a one-off, voluntary gift — not a purchase, subscription, or payment for any service. It funds keeping the directory free for comics and bookers.
- Card payment is handled entirely by SumUp on their own page. COMEDY ATLAS never sees or stores your card details.
- Because a donation is a gift rather than a purchase, we don't offer refunds as a matter of course — but if something went wrong (a duplicate charge, a wrong amount), email contact@comedyatlas.app and we'll sort it out directly with you.
Content, intellectual property & takedowns
This is the general route for reporting a copyright, ownership, or accuracy problem with anything on the site — a photo, a bio, scraped listing text, or a claim made on someone else's behalf. It's separate from the comic-listing removal path described in our Privacy page, which covers a comic asking for their own personal listing to be changed or taken down.
- Where content comes from. Show, venue, and listing text is aggregated from official venue websites, festival programmes, and public ticketing platforms, and cross-checked against OpenStreetMap for locations. Comic and booker photos are either uploaded by the account holder or, where a public photo is used to identify a public figure for a listing, sourced from a public page. We don't have a formal photo-licensing programme — if you believe a photo on the site is yours and shouldn't be there, tell us and we'll take it down while we sort it out.
- If you believe your work, photo, or likeness is on the site without a right to be there — as the rights holder or someone authorized to act for them — email contact@comedyatlas.app with: (1) what the content is and where it appears (a URL), (2) a description of your right to it, and (3) how to reach you. A human reads every takedown request.
- What happens next. We aim to remove or update disputed content promptly while we look into it — we would rather take something down and restore it once we've verified the facts than leave a disputed claim live. This is a manual process run by one person, not an automated notice-and-counter-notice system, so response times can vary.
- If a listing misattributes a bit, a booking, or a credit to the wrong comic or venue, that's an accuracy report, not strictly an IP claim — send it to the same address and we'll correct it.
- We don't claim ownership over your bio, photos, or any content you submit for your own listing. You keep it; you're granting us permission to display it on COMEDY ATLAS for as long as your listing is live, or until you ask us to remove it.
No warranty, and the honest limits of what we can promise
- COMEDY ATLAS is provided as-is. We don't claim it's error-free, uninterrupted, secure against every possible failure, or fit for any particular purpose beyond "a directory of comedy shows."
- Nothing on this site is verified in a legal or insured sense — "verified" on our listings means corroborated against at least two independent public sources, described on the About page, not a professional or legal guarantee.
- To the extent the law where you live allows it, COMEDY ATLAS and the person who runs it aren't liable for indirect losses connected to using the site — for example, a show being different than listed, or a donation going to the wrong place because of a mistake you made entering your details. This section doesn't try to exclude anything that the law says can't be excluded (for example, liability for fraud).
Changes
- We may update these terms as the product changes — for example, if a new capability (like the "planned" ticket-referral programme mentioned on our Partners page) actually launches. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do.
- We'll never quietly start claiming a capability, fee, or commission that isn't live — if something changes, this page and the relevant part of the site will say so together.
Governing law
Which country's law governs these terms, and where a dispute would be handled, is [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION — NOT YET DECIDED, NEEDS LEGAL REVIEW]. We haven't picked an arbitration venue or dispute-resolution process either. If you have a dispute, email us first — contact@comedyatlas.app — and we'll try to resolve it directly.
